The mother of all ... The mother of Ali

“Though their life was modest, they

believed in eating well.”

~James Joyce, Dubliners

(quote from here)

Ah Umm Ali (أم علي) !
The ingredients: puff pastry, milk, sugar, pistachio pieces, coconut.
The taste: *SIGH*

eaten at Aroos Damascus

A good warm bowl of this dessert can cure all ills, I'm sure of it.
Different cooks make it differently, some without the coconut, some a little more runny. It tastes good ALL WAYS, ALWAYS.

Keeping it simple

“I don't know what it is about food your mother makes for you, especially when it's something that anyone can make - pancakes, meat loaf, tuna salad - but it carries a certain taste of memory.”~ Mitch Albom

(quote found here)

The simplest of desserts: Avocado with honey and almond slivers.

The ingredients: All imported, unfortunately- the avocado from Kenya, the honey from India, and the almonds from the US,  I think. The avocado and almonds were purchased locally.
The taste: creamy (obviously), slightly sweet (half a tbsp of honey won't alter the taste too much), and crunchy (nuts!)
proof that appearance isn't the only indicator of brilliance

For my mother, who loves avocados (or avocadoes, if you prefer). She is still waiting for her avocado tree to bear fruit.
